History of the Positive Care Programme
Medical researcher and healer, Su Mason PhD, and her friends, Catherine Hankin-Ward, Keilah Towers and Mah Hussain-Gambles dreamed up the idea of the Positive Care Programme around Su's kitchen table.
They felt that there was place for an organisation which gave holistic support to people with long-term illness and their carers.
The friends assembled a team of more than twenty people to help run the programme, which is thought to be the only one of its kind in the country.
When it was first set up in 2004, Su said:
"Everything we do is designed to work alongside conventional medicine. We don't claim to offer a cure, but we do hope the programme will benefit people - if they are in pain to reduce pain, if they are stressed to reduce stress. The programme is designed to help people’s body, mind and spirit to help them to be more in balance and able to cope with life."
